All Jammu & Kashmir patwaris association of district kupwara on Wednesday held a protest at Town hall Kupwara in view of the directions passed by Apex body of AJKPA for indefinite strike.

As per the statement issued here states that, All Patwaris have gone to observe an indefinite strike, starts from today as in past government has agreed in writing that all the demands are genuine and will be fulfilled in a month, but despite a lapse of more than 12 months no formal orders have been issued regarding the fulfillment of genuine demands.

The association are urging the authorities to redress their genuine demands including Grade pay of graduate patwaries, as the order for 2800 grade pay was issued for patwaries on the date of appointment in 2013 which was later reduced to grade pay of 2400 by issuing corrigendum and these patwaries are demanding restoration of that order”, as it is not a case of pay anomaly ,reads a statement here,

The another demand in which the association are seeking to get addressed is Creation of GQ circles and patwar halqas. In year 2014, government created new administrative units Nayabat and Tehsils only. In case of district kupwara, 3 erstwhile Tehsils were bifurcated into 14 Tehsils thus the workload was distributed. However patwar halqas and GQ circles were not created/rationalized at that time being the basic pillar, which is causing a workload to these employees & in most of the cases one GQ is working under Two Tehsildars or a GQ is having more jurisdiction than Tehsildar as such are demanding creation of GQ circles ,the handout further reads,

They also demand of Enhancement of NT quota making at par with UT of ladakh which came into existence of the same day on which UT of JK came into force.

The indefinite strike would continue till the demands are met, the handout further reads,

In the meantime, the association has sought the intervention of the LG led administration to redress their genuine demands.
