DC Gbl chairs NCORD meeting to review control measures against drug menace

GANDERBAL : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today chaired District Level Committee of Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) here to take review of the action taken by the concerned departments with regard to curbing the drug menace in the district.

At the outset, detailed discussion was held regarding measures undertaken by the concerned departments for combating illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and its consumption in the district.

While reviewing the measures taken, the DC maintained that the District Administration is focused to create a drug-free environment in the district and stressed upon the Officers of all the line departments including Enforcement agencies to ensure better coordination to contain the drug peddling and break the supply chain.

He also asked the SSP to take stringent action against the culprits involved in the hazardous trade of drugs.

During the meeting, SSP Ganderbal apprised the DC about the overall scenario of drug abuse in Ganderbal and measures taken to curb the menace. He said that crack down on drug trafficking and its peddlers would be further intensified to punish those involved in this heinous crime.

The DC directed for identification of the hotspot areas of wild cannabis cultivation so that special drives could be launched in these areas.

Assistant Drug Controller Ganderbal was directed to ensure CCTV is installed at every medical store besides computerized filling shall be ensured and prescriptions and MRD numbers shall also be checked on regular basis to ensure blanket ban on banned drugs.
