KUPWARA : In pursuance to PRI demands under ADF ,  Executive Engineer, Electric Division,  Kupwara has procured as many as 2685 Solar Lights, amounting to Rs. 612.26 lakhs, under District CAPEX Budget ( PRI Grants) during 2022-23.

These Solar Lights, as per the statement of concerned Executive Engineer, have been procured already and being installed in different Panchayats of Sogam, Kalaroos, Kupwara, Qadirabad, Trehgam, Chowkibal, Hyhama and Drugmulla areas of kupwara Electrict Division of the district , while as at few Panchayats installation of Solar Lights and GI tagging is in progress.

The Executive Engineer has also informed that 35 % of  the total amount of contracts has been kept withheld as per rules till final installation.  This include 25 % in the shape of FDR and 10 % in the shape of deposit amount.

The people and PRIs have expressed gratitude for the department for installation of Solar Lights in their respective areas in shortest possible time and prevented lapse of funds alloted for the purpose.

Furthermore it is clarified by the department that all GFR and procedures have been followed in totality in the said task and no excess payment is released to any contractor as otherwise mentioned in some media reports.
