Secretary DLSA, Bandipora visits Senior Citizens Home, presides over an awareness programme

BANDIPORA : Secretary District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bandipora today  visited Senior Citizens Home Bandipora (AHAT-E-WAQAR) and presides over Legal awareness programme on “Maintenance and welfare of parents & senior citizens Act, 2007” and supervised the living conditions of senior citizens.

The programme was organized under the Chairman DLSA Bandipora, Amit Sharma and under the guidance of Secretary DLSA Bandipora Nusrat Ali Hakak.

Secretary District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bandipora interacted with the senior citizens and said that,  AHAT-E-WAQAR is a recreational centre for elderly people.

She said  there is an urgent need to boost our efforts to support the elderly members of our society and raise legal awareness among them.

It is well known that the elderly people require a significant amount of attention and support to lead fulfilling lives, she added.

Secretary DLSA said that such personal interactions can significantly improve the mental and emotional wellbeing of the elderly persons, especially those living in isolated conditions.

Advocate Irshad Ahmad Dar acted as a resource person and delivered a lecture on legal aspects and explained different laws for senior citizens including MWPSC Act, 2007 and prevention of Elder Abuse.
