BANDIPORA : Following the directions of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmed, Legal Metrology Department (LMD) has intensified its market checking operations in order to ensure that businesses in the area comply with legal requirements for accurate rates of commodities and weighing and measuring instruments.
Continuing the market inspection drive in the holy days of Ramzan, LMD carried inspection in the vicinities of Chitthay Banday, Argam and Sumbal and booked as many as 13 traders under various sections of Legal Metrology Act. A fine of Rs. 6600 was recovered on spot.
LMD officials informed that the drive shall continue in the coming days.
The concerned officers of LMD Bandipora has urged all business establishments to ensure that their weighing and measuring instruments are accurate and ensure compliance with legal requirements beside abide by the government rates.
