The media industry is among the few industries that has seen a bloom over the past few years. Well there may be many reasons behind this phenomenon, but one undeniable fact is the advent of modern gadgets, more particularly the ‘smartphone’. At a time when these ‘smartphones’ made the work of media persons easy, it nonetheless fell into the wrong and amateur hands of many, resulting that we have ‘media-persons’ in every nook and cranny. All one needs to portray him/her a ‘media-person’ is a smartphone and a mic and if you happen to encounter such a person for any reason, you’ll for sure see yourself in dock. Ironically, despite time to time hullaballoo raised by the genuine media persons over the issue, the authorities seem least bothered, which in turn is literally giving a free hand to these persons to do whatever they want to. A legitimate question which needs to asked would the authorities allow any person to take the profession of a Doctor, an Engineer, an advocate or for that matter any other profession which needs requisite degree and for sure one may answer it by itself that authorities haven’t so far allowed this and won’t allow it to happen in future even, then why is it that authorities are silent over this imminent issue. One more often than not gets to hear that the ‘Media is the fourth pillar of democracy’, but this pillar has been in shambles for quite a while now and one does hope, the authorities would take measures to renovate this pillar and restore the faith of the public in contemporary media.
