Spearheaded by Prince MBS, Saudi Arabia has made strategic moves to foster peace and cooperation in the Middle East, particularly in its diplomatic relations.
One of the most significant achievements has been the historic diplomatic deal brokered by China between archrivals Iran and Saudi Arabia, marking a new era of diplomatic engagement in the region. In addition, Saudi Arabia has embarked on diplomatic talks with Syria, resulting in the reopening of embassies and resumption of flights after a decade-long cutoff due to protests and ousting from the Arab League. The Kingdom has also engaged in discussions with rebels in Yemen, with efforts to resolve the conflict seen as a proxy battle between Iran and Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia welcomed Hamas for diplomatic discussions, and Palestinian President Mohammad Abbas paid a visit to the Kingdom, where he was warmly received by Prince MBS. The Kingdom expressed its unwavering support for the rights of the Palestinian people to an independent state.
The diplomatic strides of Saudi Arabia have not been limited to resolving conflicts. In a historic move, Qatar and Bahrain have also decided to end their long-running feud and re-establish diplomatic relations, paving the way for enhanced cooperation in the region.
