SFD Anantnag organizes Environment Awareness rally & field visit for students

ANANTNAG : Social Forestry Division (SFD) Anantnag, today organised environment awareness rally & field visit for students of Government HSS Achabal under Mission Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) initiative 2023 at Nagdandi Achabal Anantnag.

The rally began from Mughal Garden Achabal with a pledge by the students and staff of the Social Forestry Range Kokernag & Forest Range Kothar to play their active role in preserving the environment & creating mass awareness and later culminated at forest nursery Nagdandi Achabal.

Students and field staff of Social Forestry Range Kokernag including DFO Social Forestry, Shama Rohie, Range Officer Social Forestry Range Kokernag, Ishtiyaq Ahmad Makhdoomi and Range officer Forest Range Kothar also participated in the rally.

Later an awareness programme with regard to the importance of forests for the environment was held at Nadgdandi Forest Nursery where students and forest experts discussed various initiatives taken by the government for afforestation and creating mass awareness.

Speaking on the occasion, DFO Social Forestry Division Anantnag, Shama Rosie said that Mission Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) recognises that Indian culture and living traditions are inherently sustainable. The importance of conserving our precious natural resources and living in harmony with nature are emphasised in our ancient scriptures, she added.

She stressed that the need of the hour is to tap into that ancient wisdom and spread the message to as many people as possible, adding that Mission LiFE seeks to channel the efforts of individuals and communities into a global mass movement of positive behavioural change.
