Awareness is bedrock of success & development: DDC Pulwama

PULWAMA : An Awareness program for Building and Other Construction Workers was today organized by J&K Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board in collaboration with Assistant Labour Commissioner Pulwama at Circuit House Pulwama.

District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom was the chief guest on the occasion. He also released an amount of Rs. 1,07,60,000 among 1780 beneficiaries under different welfare schemes run by JKBOCWWB and directed the Assistant Labour Commissioner to conduct more such programs in the industrial district to aware labourers about different labour laws and welfare schemes of the department.

Also visiting officer/official of J&K Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, Dr. Nida Yousuf (Assistant Labour Commissioner, JKBOCWWB) briefed the participants about the Welfare Schemes of JKBOCWWB. Dr Nida stressed that benefits of schemes and laws presently in vogue shall reach to the last labour and worker in the District.

DDC was apprised that scholarship for various classes, special scholarship for the wards of registered BOC workers who secure 90% and above marks for the class 10th and 12th, marriage assistance scheme are presently benefitting more than ten thousand workers registered with the J&K Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.

Dr Basharat enjoined upon all the un-registered workers to get themselves registered in the construction boards to avail the benefits of the welfare schemes for betterment of their livelihood. He further directed ALC Pulwama to carry out mass awareness of workers through media, multimedia and mass media methods.

The function was also attended by staff of the Labour department and labourers from different areas of the district.
