SHOPIAN : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb today convened a meeting of all concerned officers to review the preparations for conduct of “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in the district.

At the outset, the chair was briefed about the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign including its components viz. Deep Dive-Silaphalakam, Vasudha Vandhan (planting 75 saplings), Veeron Ka Vandan, Hoisting of National Flag and Singing of Rashtra Gaan and Panch Pran Pledge etc.

The DC asked all departments to effect impactful celebrations of Independence Day under national theme ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ across the district as per guidelines issued by the Government.

It was informed that the local level programmes shall also be held to pay homage to the ‘Veers’ who have sacrificed their lives for the nation.

DC asked to prepare the list of all such ‘Veers’ who have sacrificed their lives including freedom fighters and defence/ police personnel of the district.

The meeting was further informed that ‘Mitti Yatras’ from Panchayats shall be organised and under the activity of ‘Vasudha Vandan’, each Gram Panchayat will replenish mother earth by planting at least 75 plant saplings preferentially around the already established Amrit Sarovars.

The ACD and EO MC were directed to make all necessary arrangements for ‘MittiYatra” in all 98 Panchayats of the district and wards of the Town.

Addressing the meeting, the DC enjoined upon all the officers to take part in all the events themselves besides encouraging others for the same and stressed upon all departments to ensure utmost coordination among themselves to make the campaign successful.

The meeting was attended by ACR, ACD, ACP, CEO, CHO, CAHO, DFO and other officers and officials from concerned departments.
