Editorial | Need to Revive Soulful Teachings

We rarely find such personalities who are celebrated and revered and find their followers in every cult and at even times spark debates over as to who the rightful heirs of their teachings are – Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) is one among such names who is revered by almost all sections of Islam in the Valley and interestingly all of them proudly declare their association with the great personality whose contribution has swayed the Valley’s religious, spiritual, and social dimensions and took it to economic prosperity. History is witness that this great spiritual saint brought a revolution in Kashmir. Looking at our surroundings and the cesspool of imbroglio our society is caught in, the need of the hour is to adhere to the teachings of great predecessors like Shah-e-Jeelani (RA) whose teachings are replete with the message of pristine form of Islam (the Qur’an and Sunnah). The Valley of Kashmir which is often described as ‘Pir Veare’ (Valley of Saints) has to return to the roots, transform their lives, and change their destiny by following the footsteps of revered spiritual personalities like Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), and instead of merely celebrating the anniversaries, we need to revive their teachings and follow those in letter and spirit, only therein lies our salvation (both material as well as spiritual). We all need to strive to revive the legacy left by such personalities to see our good in this world and the other.
