In a bid to usher the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir towards a corruption-free environment and promote transparent and accountable governance, the administration is vigorously pursuing its idea of a ‘Bhrashtachar Mukt’ J&K. In extension to the idea of a corruption-free J&K, the administration is celebrating ‘Bhrashtachar Mukht’ throughout the Union Territory from September 4 to 10, 2023. Over the last few days, different departments have been administering pledges to the respective employees to seek their support towards the (noble) cause. Corruption is an act that has been admonished and abhorred by all the religious scriptures and is seen as a travesty to cherished morals and ethics in any society, so in a way we all are bound to refrain from any such act, in any capacity, which goes against the basic tenets of a just and humane society. We however have to concede to the fact that despite all the relevant laws in place and admonition from the religious scriptures, the menace of corruption is a deep-rooted menace and many of us have at some point of time unfortunately fallen to it in one or the other way. But it is never too late and at a time when the government is ever active to crack a whip against such persons who make the innocent people their targets to extract their hard earned money despite genuine and legitimate works, we as such are required to raise to the occasion and strengthen the efforts of government and its law-enforcement agencies to do away with this menace. Wherever or whenever we face any such situation, we without giving any thought must reach out to the authorities to bring these culprits to justice to ensure that no gullible or innocent person falls prey to such unscrupulous elements’. As said it is better late than never, so realizing our role we should act now for we also know the sooner the better.
