Members of Ganderbal Media Fraternity, an organization of authorised journalists associated with print, electronic and digital media attended the meeting and apprised the DC about the problems faced by the media and commented on the measures taken to control the self-styled social media personnel involved in ill practices in the name of press and media.

The DC assured members of the media fraternity with his full cooperation by offering them proper accommodation and other recognition.

He further asked the media fraternity to bring in the membership drive and go for proper election to choose their president, vice president and other office bearers via democratic way to make the media association more stable and proactive.

The DC directed the District Information Officer to prepare a list of registered journalists which shall be circulated in all government offices so that it would be easy for all officers of the district administration to identify and distinguish between the genuine and fake journalists.

He said that these measures will ensure a pleasant atmosphere and positive harmony between the administration and the journalist community and expose the self-styled blackmailers who defame journalism.
