GDC Sogam organises Induction Program for Batch-2023 students

A One-Day “Induction Program for Semester 1st students of batch 2023” was organized by GDC Sogam on wednesday.

The program was organized by the Admission Committee in collaboration with IQAC and Career Counselling Cell of the college with the objective to acquaint students with the college, it’s infrastructure, facilities, resources available.

The patron of the event was the worthy principal, Prof. (Dr.) Shamim Ahmad Dar. The Convener of this induction program was Prof. Sajad Ahmad (HoD, English; Convener, Admission Committee), who also moderated the event and the Rapporteur was Dr. Tauseef Ahmad Parray (AP, Islamic Studies; Convener, Media Cell).

In his “Presidential Remarks”, the worthy Principal said that “College life gives you a new life and new opportunities”, so students should understand well this transformation and work hard to achieve their goals. He also instructed the newly admitted students that they should be serious in their studies and utilize the available resources (infrastructure, ICT, library, human resource, sports, etc.) freely and fairly.

This was followed by a formal “Welcome Address”, given by Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Bhat (HoD, Botany; Coordinator, IQAC), who also presented a brief profile of the college and briefly introduced the faculty members.

Moreover, three (3) faculty members spoke on this occasion to acquaint students about the college, its rules and bylaws and about the facilities and opportunities available for their benefit. These include Dr. M. Imran Mali (HoD, Geography; NSS Programme Officer), Dr. Musharaf Rehman (HoD, Zoology; Dean Sciences; Convener, Discipline Committee) and Prof. Mehbooba Bano (HoD, Political Science; Dean Social Sciences; Convener, Women Development Cell/ Mahila Shakti).

On this occasion, two students of batch 2021 and 2020, namely Mr. Saqib Sarwar Mir (BA 5th Sem) and Ms Adfar Farooq (BA 6th Sem), also shared their experiences, the facilities available in the college and how students can make maximum benefit from their college life.

The program ended with a formal vote of thanks, proposed by Prof. Mohd Rafi (AP, Economics). The program was attended by a good number of students, mostly batch 2023 and many faculty members.
