Kashmir, a region historically marred by conflict and unrest, is now on a transformative path towards peace and prosperity. The changes that have unfolded post the abrogation of Article 370 have been instrumental in reshaping the lives of its people, instilling hope and optimism in the hearts of Kashmiris.
One of the most significant shifts observed in Kashmir post-abrogation is the eradication of the Hartal culture. This change has been widely embraced by the people, students, and businessmen. Schools are now open uninterrupted, offices operate with transparency, and tourism is experiencing controlled growth. The once prevalent atmosphere of uncertainty has given way to stability and progress. It is evident that the burdens of the past are being lifted, and a new era of development has dawned upon the region.
The real essence of this transformation lies in the abolition of Article 370. This decision, made by the Indian government, has not only cleared the confusion in the minds of Kashmiri people but has also paved the way for significant developmental initiatives. Peaceful and progressive strategies are now being implemented, marking a departure from the provocative ideas of radicals. The decision to integrate with India has sent a clear message: those who willingly acceded to India have now made a complete integration with the nation.
However, amidst this progress, it is essential to acknowledge the dark chapters of history that have shaped Kashmir’s narrative. The role of Pakistan, especially its support for terrorism in Kashmir, infiltration attempts, and the four wars fought between India and Pakistan over the region, cannot be overlooked. The heart-wrenching stories of innocent lives lost to terrorist activities paint a somber picture. The people of Kashmir have suffered due to the brutal and inhuman acts perpetrated by terrorists, casting a shadow over the region’s peace.
One particularly distressing incident recounted by a 115-year-old person from Baramullah stands as a testament to the brutality of the invaders. They entered Kashmir via Uri, leaving a trail of terror in their wake. Stories of rape, theft, and inhumane treatment echo through the valleys, illustrating the sheer callousness of those involved. Such incidents, mirrored in various parts of Kashmir, emphasize the cunning and brutality of the raiders. The invasion of Kashmir on 22nd October 1947, observed as the Black Day, was a stark reminder of the challenges faced by the people.
In this complex landscape, the question arises: who truly sympathizes with the Kashmiri people – India or Pakistan? The answer lies not just in historical facts but in the actions taken to uplift the lives of the people. India, through its representatives, has worked relentlessly to protect Kashmiri lives, eliminate invaders, and provide a platform for the region to integrate into one of the world’s largest democracies. The progress witnessed in post-abrogation Kashmir is a testament to India’s commitment to the welfare and prosperity of its people.
Kashmir embarks on this transformative journey, it is crucial for every Kashmiri to understand the region’s history in its entirety. This understanding should extend beyond the narratives of a singular side and encompass the broader scope of events that have shaped Kashmir’s destiny. With this knowledge, Kashmiris can move forward, embracing peace and progress, and work towards a brighter, more stable future.
The integration with India has become more concrete and solid due to their democratic values, constitutional provisions, and commitment to the rule of law. Despite a historical defeat in Kashmir, Pakistan couldn’t halt its proxy role in the region. They initiated the radicalization of Kashmiri youth through certain individuals acting as puppets in Kashmir. During this period, military deployment wasn’t widespread, and the atmosphere was peaceful, allowing people to enjoy their lives.
However, after radicalization, these manipulative forces provoked the youth to take up arms and engage in conflict with Indian troops, resulting in significant bloodshed and violence. The escalation in troop deployment and the rise in violence became challenging to control due to the deep-seated sentiments involved.
Yet, the army and other security forces, in a highly professional manner, managed to defeat terrorism, curb radicalization, and restore peace. This hard-earned peace came at a great cost, with sacrifices made by soldiers, innocents, and the people of Kashmir. Over the past 75 years, the people have witnessed terrorism, terrorists, and the roles played by various actors. They are now in the best position to discern between nations with positive and negative influences.
The current situation is before us; we can witness what we are experiencing and observing today. Let us learn from history and avoid repeating it. Instead, let us transform these experiences into valuable lessons for the future.
