Kupwara: An Awareness Program on “User Education Program for NEP Batch 2023” was organized by Al-Anwar Library and IQAC of Govt. Degree College Sogam Kupwara on thursday. The objective of the event was to aware the new commers about the use and importance of the library and the facilities and (e-)resources available in the library.
The patron of the event was Prof Dr Shamim Ahmad Dar Principal GDC sogam and the convener was Amir Amanullah (Librarian, GDC Sogam).
The event was moderated by Qawsar Manzoor (BA sem-I student), the Rapporteur was Dr. Tauseef Ahmad Parray (AP, Islamic Studies; Convener, Media Cell) and the media coverage and technical support was provided by Mr. Amir Suhail Teli (MTS/ Assistant Librarian).
The welcome address was presented by Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Bhat (HoD Botany; Coordinator, IQAC) in which he welcomed the patron, staff and students and highlighted the importance of using library and e-resources. “Our college library is fully automated and is rich and diverse in its content and collection”, he said.
In his Presidential Remarks, the worthy Principal highlighted the importance of book reading culture, making judicious use of time and library resources and the facilities and academic resources (physical and online) available for the benefit of the students.
The Key Resource Person of this awareness program was Amir Amanullah (Librarian, Al-Anwar Library, GDC Sogam) in which he threw detailed light, through PPT, regarding the facilities, services and e-resources available in the library and how to make their judicious and maximum use. The library is fully automated with OPAC facility, internet/ wifi connectivity, having separate browsing centre and separate sections for career counseling, stare and national level competitive exams and has access to thousands of e-books and e-journals through various platofrms and consortiums, he said. He demonstrated how to use their e-resources and consortiums and online platforms.
The event ended with a formal vote of thanks, proposed by Prof. Ishfaq Hussain (AP, English/ Convener, D&SC).
The program was attended by over 150 students and a number of faculty members. The students praised in high terms this informative and valuable awareness program.
