Dr Basharat emphasized the importance of conducting extensive awareness campaigns in schools and colleges to educate the youth about the dangers and detrimental effects of drug consumption. He called for a united front from all departments to break the supply chain, take strict action against those involved in drug trade, and implement a multi-faceted rehabilitation, counseling, and guidance policy.

Recognizing the pivotal role of families, DC sought cooperation from parents and religious leaders in keeping youngsters away from drugs. He underscored the need for a collective effort to address not only drug abuse but also the associated social issues and crimes.

Assuring unwavering support, DC pledged assistance from the District Administration to save the youth from the adverse effects of drugs.

During the meeting, officers provided updates on the current drug menace situation, offering suggestions and proposing measures for rehabilitation of drug victims.

Enforcement measures, including FIRs, property attachments, and reducing areas under illicit crops, were reviewed as part of a comprehensive strategy. The chair was briefed on the lodging of 114 FIRs and the attachment of 6 properties in line with prior directives against the offenders.

Furthermore, revenue authorities were instructed to issue notices against the cultivation of illicit poppy and cannabis in the district, signaling the administration’s commitment to curbing the root causes of the drug problem.
