Srinagar : In a remarkable display of skill and determination, Kamran Mohammad Shamas and Naveed Farooq Mir showcased their prowess at the All India Inter University Wushu Championship 2024, held at Jammu University from February 12th to 17th, 2024. With over 140 universities participating in this prestigious event, the competition was fierce, but Kamran and Naveed rose above the rest to claim top honors for their respective weight categories.

Kamran Mohammad Shamas, hailing from Lolab District, Kupwara, Jammu & Kashmir, etched his name in glory by clinching the gold medal in the 90+kg weight category in the Sanda discipline. His journey to victory was marked by sheer grit and exceptional skill, as he faced formidable opponents in six intense fights, emerging victorious in each to secure the gold medal for his university.

Meanwhile, Naveed Farooq Mir, representing Lovely Professional University, Punjab, demonstrated remarkable prowess in the 85kg weight category, earning a well-deserved silver medal. Naveed showcased his expertise in five fiercely contested bouts, displaying unwavering determination and skill throughout the championship.

Their outstanding performances not only brought honor to their universities but also exemplified the talent and dedication present in the wushu community of India. Kamran Mohammad Shamas and Naveed Farooq Mir’s achievements serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes across the nation, highlighting the importance of perseverance and hard work in the pursuit of excellence in sports.
