Yana Mir, through compelling illustrations, illuminated the challenging ground realities in Jammu and Kashmir before the abrogation of Article 370. Her narrative included poignant stories of mothers who lost their sons due to indoctrination by Pakistani infiltrators within the Kashmiri people. This provided the audience with a profound understanding of the broader implications of this historic decision. Attendees found it uplifting to hear about the remarkable changes post the abrogation of Article 370, from a strengthened security environment to substantial infrastructure development, transforming Jammu and Kashmir from terrorism to tourism.

In his address, Aman Bhogal underscored the importance of discerning between false narratives and reality in information consumption. He drew parallels with global scenarios where specific ideologies consistently project biased narratives, often vilifying individuals, parties, or countries with legitimate causes or positive intentions for humanity. He concluded his message by urging the diaspora to counteract such negative forces with a positive influence, akin to how the sun serves as a disinfectant when it emerges.

The event drew attendees from various sections of the Indian diaspora. The proceedings were skilfully guided by FISI Core Member Rajni Negi. Heartfelt vote of thanks was delivered by FISI Core Member Vinay Pujari. The speakers were honoured and appreciated by other esteemed FISI Core members, including Sarita Rahul, Rahul Subramanyam and Sweta Bhatia.

Friends of India Society International (FISI) UK is a non-profit organisation that strives to strengthen the relationship between UK and India and promoting dialogue on India’s social and cultural issues.
