DC Pulwama discusses strategies, coordination among stakeholders during NCORD meeting

Emphasises on Zero Tolerance policy against drugs to save youth from its ill effects

PULWAMA : The Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom today convened a meeting of Narco Coordination Committee (NCORD) to discuss strategies, and enhance coordination among various stakeholders in tackling the menace of narcotics in the district.
The aim was to strengthen collaboration and exchange of information to effectively combat the proliferation of narcotics in Pulwama.
Dr. Qayoom outlined the objectives of the committee, which include conducting awareness campaigns in schools, colleges, and communities, establishing rehabilitation and counselling programs for addicts, strengthening enforcement measures, and fostering partnerships with civil society organizations to address the root causes of drug abuse.
Action plans will be formulated to address specific issues, enhance inter-agency cooperation, and leverage resources effectively to achieve sustainable results.
Dr. Qayoom emphasized the importance of a comprehensive approach involving proactive measures, intelligence sharing, and community engagement to address the challenges posed by drug trafficking and abuse.
He reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring a drug-free environment for the citizens of Pulwama.
Dr Basharat reviewed the current situation regarding narcotics trafficking, shared insights on emerging trends, and discussed strategies to disrupt illicit drug networks.
Additionally, avenues for enhancing public awareness and implementing preventive measures were explored. He emphasized the need for sustained efforts and proactive initiatives to safeguard the well-being and future of the community.
The DC expressed confidence that the collective efforts of the administration, law enforcement agencies, and the community would yield positive results in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking in Pulwama.
Among others, the meeting was attended by SSP Pulwama P D Nitya, SSP Awantipora, CEO and CMO, besides senior officers from civil and police administration.
