KUPWARA : To encourage citizens especially first time voters to exercise their right to vote and ensure maximum voter turn-out, during upcomming Lok Sabha elections, District administration Kupwara today organized voter awareness programmes under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative at different polling booths in the district.
Mega voter awareness programmes were organised today at Langate assembly segments which included Govt. Degree college, Langate, Grils Higher secondary Langate and at Dand kadal Mawar the famous fresh water body which were aligned to world Heritage day. April 18, each year is celebrated as World Heritage Day which is also known as the International Day for Monuments and Sites. It aims to raise awareness about the diversity of cultural heritage and the efforts required to protect and conserve it for future generations.
Students raised awareness on the banks of famous fresh water body Mawar by organizing different activities which included “MY RIGHT MY VOTE” by arranging boulders. A plantation drive was organised a on the ocassion to raise awareness regarding maximum voter turnout out in the district during upcomming Lok Sabha elections.
Impressive Voter awareness events at Langate were presided over by ADC Handwara, Aziz Ahmad Rather and ocasion was graced with the presence of ARO Langate/ ACP Kupwara, Dr.Mudasir Ahmad, ASP Handwara, Principal GDC Langate, Exen R&B Handwara, Exen Irrigation & Flood Control, Dy. CEO, SDPO Handwara, EO Handwara / Langate, Tehsildar Handwara, Tehsildar Langate , SHO Handwara, students and staff of different educational institutions of the Langate.
Meanwhile, Mega Voter Awareness rallies under the SVEEP initiative were organized at other polling booths of Kupwara District.
The concerned Zonal Education Officers and Principals of the Institutions presided over the Voter Awareness Programmes in their concerned jurisdictions. The awareness programmes witnessed the active participation of general public Teachers and students, besides, officials from various departments, first time voters, community leaders, local artists and general public also participated in these programs.
During the conduct of these programmes, the speakers emphasized on the need for citizens to use their right to vote, underlining that importance of voting in determining the country’s future and safeguarding the democratic system. The participants were urged to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming elections to strengthen the democracy.
