LS Election 2024: DEO Kupwara reviews Poll Preparations

Kupwara: The District Election Officer (DEO) Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan on Thursday convened a meeting of AROs and other concerned Officers to review the preparations for upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the district.

The meeting meticulously discussed various key aspects of the poll preparations including accessibility and other essential facilities of polling stations-post flash floods and their immediate restoration.

The DEO, while examining the key aspects of the election preparations, directed concerned officers to restore the accessibility and other facilities for polling stations which were damaged by recent flash floods in the districts in a time bound and well coordinated manner.

DEO directed BDOs to be in the forefront and assist AROs and Tehsildars, ensuring effective coordination and addressing any concerns regarding the necessary facilities.

The DEO directed concerned officers to make the community bunkers functional and hygienic.

The pivotal meeting focused on the distribution plan, receiving plan, communication plan for shadow areas and contingency plan.

Recognizing the unique weather challenges, pertaining to 75 polling stations of border and remote areas of the district, DEO directed the officers to devise a contingency plan which will aim to ensure safety and accessibility of voters and election personnel.

The DEO said that the District Administration is committed to take all necessary measures for successful conduct of ‘free, fair and participative elections.’
The meeting was attended by ADDC Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmad Bhat, ADC Handwara, Aziz Ahmad Rather, AROs, ACD Kupwara, Dy. DEO, Executive Engineers of R&B, I&FC, PMGSY, and other concerned officers.
