Lok Sabha Elections-2024 Supplementary first Randomisation of EVMs, VVPATs conducted in Srinagar

SRINAGAR : In connection with General Lok Sabha Elections-2024, a Supplementary first Randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for all the (08) Eight Assembly Segments of Srinagar District was conducted in accordance with the guidelines of Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex, here.
The Supplementary Randomization process was held under the supervision of District Election Officer (DEO) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat in presence of the candidates and representatives of other Candidates contesting from 02-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency, Deputy DEO, Nodal Officer ETBPS, Nodal Officer EVMs and other Officers of District Election Authority Srinagar.
During the process, Supplementary Randomisation of Ballot Units, Control Units and VVPATs for Eight (08) Assembly Segments of Srinagar District were carried out through dedicated software. Each Assembly segment was allocated an additional required number of EVMs for use during the upcoming polls, as the number of contesting candidates in Srinagar PC is more than 16 candidates.
The additional Assembly segment-wise allocation of EVMs for the conduct of Lok Sabha Elections includes 146 EVMS for 19-Hazratbal, 157 for 20-Khanyar, 160 for 21-Habbakadal, 171 for 22-LalChowk, similarly, 114 EVMs for 23-Chanapora, 179 for 24-Zadibal, 92 for 25-Eidgah and 141 EVMs for 26-Central Shalteng Assembly segments.
Pertinent to mention that, Randomization of 1298 EMVs was conducted successfully during the first EVM Randomization held for Srinagar District on March 21, 2024.
Prior to the supplementary Randomisation process, the DEO Srinagar, who is also the Returning Officer (RO) for 02-Srinagar PC briefed the representatives of the Political parties about the Supplementary first Randomisation of EVMs ensuring their confidence in the uprightness of the process and encouraging that all requisite measures have been enacted to uphold the sanctity of the polls in free, fair and transparent manner as per the guidelines of Election Commission of India.
All the representatives of contesting candidates/political parties expressed their satisfaction over the entire randomisation process.
During the randomization, the copies of lists of randomized CUs/BUs and VVPATs were handed over to the representatives of the political parties and contesting candidates present in the meeting. The entire process was video recorded as per ECI guidelines.
