Portion of Thajwas glacier collapses in Sonamarg; One missing, two tourists rescued

GANDERBAL: One person went missing, while two tourists were rescued after a portion of Thajwas glacier collapsed at Sonamarg in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, officials said.

An official said that the incident happened when tourists were indulging in the scenic beauty of the glacier today afternoon.

According to reports from officials, two tourists and a local resident were caught in the aftermath of the glacier’s collapse, with all three falling down as a result. “Soon after the tourists were rescued while the local is still missing. Search operation is underway to locate him,” he said.
