SRINAGAR: A 20-year-old Central Kashmir girl has won three Gold medals at various martial arts competitions. Identified as Kounser Hameed Shah, a resident of HMT, Hajjibagh, Srinagar, she has been a struggler and is from a modest background.
Kounser said she was happy to win almost 13 medals in various competitions in Jammu and Kashmir in martial arts. She said she is working hard to achieve her dream of participating in a global competition.
“I have won three gold medals within the martial arts. I have also participated in the belt wrestling championship,” she said.
She thanked her parents for helping her win three gold within Jammu and Kashmir and 7 medals at district competitions. After winning gold in the National championship
Kounser’s father, Abdul Hameed Shah is working at a Labour while her mother Mamooina Banu is housewive. The parents are working to help their daughter get better educated. However, they could not afford her travel to play at the national level.
“My dream is to reach the international stage and perform well in mega events but I want support from the government so that I can prove my mettle at mega stages,” she said.
