Mega Awareness programme on BBBP held under Mission Shakti at Kulgam

KULGAM : The SANKALP, HUB for empowerment of Women Department of Social Welfare today hosted a one-day awareness programme on ’Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ (BBBP) at mini Secretariat, Kulgam.
The aim of this initiative was to educate and mobilize the community towards safeguarding and empowering the girl child through education and gender equality.
Addressing the participants, Sub Divisional Magistrate Noorabad, Bashir ul Hassan focused on the rights of girl child and various educational schemes.
Keynote address by ACR, Mushtaq Ahmad lone highlighted the low sex ratio and female foeticide, and steps to combat gender discrimination.
On the occasion, District Child Protection Officer, Snober Altaf emphasized the significance of supporting girl child through education and equal opportunities.
The aim of the programme was to raise the awareness regarding the education and rights of a girl child.
Various stakeholders including program officer NHM, college professors, regional coordinator (special cell for women J&K) shared their valuable perspectives to achieve the objectives of BBBP scheme.
The program was also attended by the Team of Mission Vatsalya, One Stop Centre, Women HelpLine, AWWs and Asha Workers.
