PULWAMA : As part of the Swachhta Pakhwada campaign and the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the District TB Control Society Pulwama has intensified its efforts to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) across the district.
In this regard an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) programme was held today at Circuit House Pulwama, focusing on the prevention and control of TB.
During the event, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, who also serves as the Chairman of the District TB Control Society, honored 49 panchayats with the TB-Mukt Panchayat Bronze Statue of Mahatma Gandhi. These panchayats, out of 190 in the district, have successfully met the criteria set under the TB Mukt Panchayat Abhiyan, symbolizing their achievement in becoming TB-free.
In his address, the DDC congratulated the Chief Medical Officer and all involved stakeholders for their dedication to the cause. He emphasized the significance of community involvement in making Pulwama one of the districts to declare TB-free status in multiple panchayats. He highlighted the substantial progress made, including an 80% reduction in TB incidence in these panchayats.
A comprehensive PowerPoint presentation detailed the criteria for achieving TB-Mukht status and the certification process. The event was attended by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO), Block Development Officers (BDOs), and representatives from the panchayats.
Moreover, the District TB Control Society plans to expand the TB Mukt Panchayat Abhiyan to cover all panchayats in the district.
