Irshad Wani
Kupwara: Senior political leader Abdul Rahim Wani has been officially endorsed by the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party for the Lolab constituency.
The announcement came on Thursday, confirming Wani’s candidacy as part of the party’s strategy for the upcoming elections.
Wani is one of twenty-four candidates who received approval from the Apni Party’s Parliamentary Affairs Committee Chairman, Mohammad Dilawar Mir.
Beginning his political journey in 1987, Wani contested his first election in 1996 on a Janata Dal ticket. In that contest, he faced the late Mushtaq Ahmad Lone and secured the second position, narrowly missing victory.
Renowned for his deep connections with former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Wani continues to be a prominent figure in Lolab, reflecting his long-standing influence and dedication to regional politics.
