Handwara : Mudasir Nazir, a 23-year-old wicket-keeper batsman from Kawari, Handwara, is making waves in the Kashmir cricketing scene. Since emerging onto the scene in 2019, Nazir has consistently impressed with his exceptional performance, becoming a standout player in his local team and beyond.
His cricketing journey began at 16, and his commitment and talent quickly propelled him to prominence. Over the past five years, he has established himself as a leading batsman in the Kashmir region, frequently topping the run charts on the Cricheros app. His dedication was recently recognized with sponsorship from MS Sports, Kashmir, and he currently enjoys support from KIS company, led by Shiraz Khan. A significant milestone in Mudasir Nazir’s career came with him becoming the first player from Kupwara district to complete 15,000 runs. This achievement underscores his exceptional skill and perseverance in the sport. His future aspirations include representing Team India, a goal he is diligently working towards. Despite lacking a professional cricket background, his unwavering passion and determination have kept him in the game.

Looking ahead, the aspiring cricketer plans to enhance his skills further through coaching and remains optimistic about the future of cricket in Kashmir. “Initially, we thought there was no scope for cricket here, but now we see Kashmiri players reaching international levels, and I am aiming for the same,” he added.
