Zone Mawer of district Kupwara today bid a farewell to one of its most dedicated and respected colleague Mr. Gh Ahmad Bhat, affectionately known as “Amm Lala.” After decades of tireless service, he retired from his position as Senior Assistant at the Zonal Education Office (ZEO) Mawer, marking the end of a career that spanned over 36 years.
A Career Built on Enthusiasm and Dedication
He Started his journey from the education department which began in 1988, a time when the landscape of education was evolving rapidly. Over the years, he became a central figure in the administrative machinery of the district, known for his unflagging enthusiasm and dedication to his duties. His work was not just a job; it was a passion that he pursued with tireless energy and a keen sense of responsibility.

From the outset, He distinguished himself with his commitment to the district’s educational development. His role as Senior Assistant was marked by a relentless drive to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of administrative processes. Whether it was handling complex paperwork, liaising with other departments, or addressing the concerns of teaching and non-teaching staff. He approached every task with a level of dedication that was nothing short of inspiring
The Essential Bridge Between Officers and Subordinates
One of his most significant contributions was his ability to act as a bridge between the officers and the subordinate staff of the district. In an environment where communication and collaboration are key to success, He excelled in facilitating smooth interactions between these two vital parts. His deep understanding of both the administrative and operational challenges faced by the department allowed him to mediate effectively, ensuring that the concerns of the staff were heard and addressed, while also ensuring that the directives from the officers were implemented efficiently.

His unique position as a mediator was not just a function of his job, but also of his personality. He was known for his approachable nature, which made him a trusted figure for many of his colleagues. Whether it was a junior staff member seeking advice or a senior officer needing a task accomplished with precision. He was always the “go-to person.” His ability to bridge gaps and bring people together made him an invaluable asset to the District.
A Leader in Subordination
In a world where leadership is often equated with being at the forefront. He exemplified a different kind of leadership—one rooted in subordination. He understood that true leadership often involves serving others, being there for colleagues when needed, and putting the needs of the department above personal ambitions. His subordination was not about weakness or passivity; it was about strength, understanding, and a deep commitment to the collective good.

His concerns for the teaching and non-teaching communities were always at the forefront of his work. He had a profound understanding of the challenges faced by educators and support staff alike. He worked tirelessly to ensure that their needs were met, and that the policies implemented at the office took into account the realities of those on the ground. His empathy and concern for others were hallmarks of his career, earning him the respect and admiration of everyone who had the privilege of working with him.

Throughout his career, He exhibited an unparalleled level of enthusiasm and dedication. The superannuation of Gh Ahmad Bhat marks the end of an era for the district kupwara in general and ZEO office Mawer in particular. His remarkable journey from joining the department in 1988 to becoming one of its most respected figures is a story of dedication, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
