Young people entering elections in numbers that are unprecedented in the history of Jammu and Kashmir In short, it is a significant development in the political landscape of this region with new hope and vision.
Such a result would be historic, as elections in J&K have traditionally been the realm of older candidates and more experienced people. This time, however, a shift in mindset has come into the valley. A stage for youth full of zeal and innovative spirit is blooming. We should bid from optimism, this suggests the youth can no longer be helpless spectators. They want a say in how things are run and to help shape the future of their area.
It is great to see youth engaging in elections. The change is the reflection of a changing mindset of youth, which now has become more vigilant and aware of what their rights are as Indian citizen. What these people get is that if you want anything to change, you have to get into the political fight. It also indicates that they believe in democracy and their ability to bring about change with the power of their voices.
Second, fresh and young candidates are also likely to be more reflective of the needs and aspirations at large (the youth component is huge in Jammu & Kashmir) than their older brethren. They have original viewpoints on employment, education, technology and social justice Participation by those groups ensures that these concerns are also brought up in the political debate.
The participation of young aspirants is also motivational for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. It reflects the powerful message to everyone that fresh blood is waiting in wings and now they are old enough, to play a part as leaders. It also inspires other young individuals to get involved in political activities, helping cultivate attitudes of vigilant and active citizenship.
The increasing number in youth rallying for election represents a trend, which is indicative of the hope that might surface up against all odds and gloom in days ahead here. It installs a refreshing sense of hope and trust in the democratic process, thereby ensuring that we have an engaging political ecosystem where the youth are represented and appreciated.
