Kupwara : In a grand ceremony held today at BHSS Nagri Malpora, the Inter-District Provincial Level Volleyball Competition was officially inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner of Kupwara, along with the District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Kupwara. The event marks a significant step towards promoting sports and encouraging youth engagement in the region.
The opening ceremony was attended by a large number of dignitaries, sports enthusiasts, and local community members. The Deputy Commissioner, in his inaugural address, emphasized the importance of sports in the holistic development of youth and encouraged all participants to exhibit the true spirit of sportsmanship. He further assured that the administration remains committed to providing the best facilities and opportunities for young athletes to nurture their talents.
The District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Kupwara also addressed the gathering, expressing gratitude to all the participating teams for their enthusiastic response. He highlighted that the tournament is a crucial platform for young players to gain exposure and experience at a competitive level, and to potentially represent the region at higher levels of competition.
A total of 10 teams from various districts of the Kashmir Division are participating in this prestigious tournament, which will be held from 6th to 14th September 2024. The matches will be played in different age categories, with each team competing to secure a spot in the Inter-Provincial UT Level competition. One selected team from each age group will go on to represent the Kashmir Division in the upcoming event, bringing pride and recognition to their respective districts.
The atmosphere at the venue was electric, with players and coaches brimming with excitement and determination. All participants have shown a high level of motivation and are eager to showcase their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The tournament is expected to be a showcase of raw talent and intense competition, providing a wonderful opportunity for the youth to shine on a larger stage.
The organizers have made all necessary arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the matches, including adequate medical facilities, refreshments, and transportation. The local community has also extended its support, with many volunteers assisting in various aspects of the event.
