ADDC Kupwara reviews progress of SSR under SVEEP

Directs officers to work on mission mode

The Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kupwara, Altaf Ahmad Khan today chaired a meeting of all concerned officers to review the activities being carried out in the district under the Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation Programme (SVEEP) to spread awareness about the ‘Special Summary Revision.’

Addressing the meeting, the ADDC said that for strengthening democracy, it is necessary that every person above the age of 18 years should exercise his/ her right to vote, which is possible only if every eligible person is registered as a voter.

He said that any youth who has attained the age of 18 years or going to attain the age of 18 years as on 01-10-2022 is eligible to be enrolled as an elector in the electoral roll.

The ADDC asked the officers to adopt a multipronged strategy and work on mission mode to ensure registration of all eligible voters in the district.

He also stressed the officers to work with added zeal in better coordination to increase the percentage of enrolment in the district.

The ADDC stressed upon the officers to speed up the process of activities and ensure that no person, who has attained the age of 18 year, should remain uncovered under Special Summary Revision. He asked them to work in tandem and maintain coordination so that the best results could be yielded at ground level. He also gave various other directions to make the system more vibrant.

On the occasion, a special SVEEP presentation/ training was given by the Nodal Officer, Reyaz Ahmad Bhat during which he provided a detailed statistical analysis and road map for registration of new voters.

He also asked the Principals of the colleges to hold special classes to motivate, aware and enroll the students who have attained the age of 18 years on the qualifying date. He also asked the concerned officers to educate the students about the importance of enrolling as voters, who will further spread this message.

The Deputy District Election Officer (DDEO) Kupwara, Mehraj ud Din; District Officers, EROs, AEROs, Nodal Officer SVEEP, District Information Officer, Principals of Government/ Private Colleges, Principals of Technical/ Professional/Medical colleges, Zonal Education Officers and other concerned attended the meeting.
