The cold desert Ladakh was created as a separate Union Territory back in 2019.

However, a year after the UT status the region witnessed widespread protests and resentment against the authorities for not fulfilling the promises and assurance made earlier.

Both prominent groups from the region including Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) and Apex Body Leh have mentioned the early recruitment process in their four-point agenda apart from the constitutional safeguard to protect regions rich and unique culture and tradition.

The administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh Tuesday informed that the recruitment process will begin from May onwards in the region.

Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Commissioner Secretary to administration of Ladakh UT in a tweet informed about the recruitment process.

The posts have been referred to the Staff Selection Committee (SSC) an organisation under the Government of India to recruit staff in various departments by the Ladakh administration.

In a tweet as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) he informed that, “Candidates awaiting date of commencement of recruitment process of vacancies of UT Ladakh referred to SSC may note that application would be invited from 10th May to 9th June.”

“Examination will be conducted in July 2022. Get ready for the test,” the tweet further read.

As reported earlier, the representatives from the region multiple times stated that post the UT status, not a single job creation was done by the administration apart from few through outsourcing.

They often accused the central government and UT administration of not holding the recruitment process, saying that all the promises made earlier have not been fulfilled nor anything concrete was done to give the assurances a shape.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) Kargil Feroz Ahamd Khan reacting to it said that no major recruitment process has taken place ever since the UT status and as of now the SSC has not notified the dates.

He urged the administration to accelerate the process and ensure that the region must have its recruitment board at least up to a divisional level so that grievances or anything is resolved here only.

“If the tentative dates given don’t turn out to be true then it will be mistrust and the process must be held fair and free besides the declaration of result should be within a short possible time,” CEC said.

It may be recalled that in the previous year on 22 December the student bodies served a 15-day ultimatum to UT administration to start the recruitment process in the region—(KNO)
