The programme commenced with Bapu’s favourite hymns, ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ soulfully rendered by the students and Mr Tariq Ah Tariq, Principal AGS Wayne speaking his memorable words of inspiration- “Be the change that you wish to see in the world’’ followed by speech on his historic life and principles. Mahatma said, “Sanitation is more important than independence” and considering the importance of hygiene, students pledged to keep their surroundings clean. In order to live up to Bapu’s ideology, students cleaned the schools and the surroundings with a slogan- “God gave us green, let us keep it clean”. Whenever we think of Bapu, two words come to our mind – truth and non-violence. As Bapu was a staunch believer of these ideals and believed in honesty as the virtue of being truthful to self and society, students carried out a Peace March to Gulgam raising slogans on Non-Violence and Terror Free Kashmir which was very well appreciated by the locals.
Inspired with Bapu’s values and thoughts, all students vowed to become responsible citizens and pledge to follow the path of peace & nonviolence. The pgme concluded with National Anthem and refreshments for students and teachers.
