The Indian Army, in collaboration with the Goonj and Richa Foundation NGO, distributed blankets and sanitary pads among the people in the remote area of Kupwara district on Thursday.
The initiative was aimed at providing relief to the marginalised communities living in the inaccessible regions of the frontier district, where the harsh winter conditions can be unbearable for those who do not have access to basic amenities.
The Chowkibal battalion has been working tirelessly to provide essential services and support to the local communities in this region, and the distribution of blankets and sanitary pads was yet another step towards their commitments for the welfare of the people.
Locals were overwhelmed with gratitude for the Indian Army and the Goonj and Richa Foundation (an NGO) for their selfless service, which came as a ray of hope for the villagers struggling to cope with the freezing temperatures.
During the distribution, an overwhelming response of 250 people, including 150 men and 100 women, appreciated the effort of the Indian Army and Goonj and Richa Foundation for the distribution of blankets, sanitary pads, and a lecture on women’s health and hygiene.
Overall, the event was a great success, and it has inspired the locals to work together with the army and the NGO to bring about positive change in their community.(Global Kashmir)
