Awareness Prog on Women Empowerment, Beti Bacho Beti Padhao held at  JJB Hall Budgam

BUDGAM: District Hub for empowerment of women in collaboration with One Stop Centre Budgam conducted an awareness camp under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and as a part of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao at JJB Hall Budgam.

The participants were also sensitized about the issue of decline in the Child Sex Ratio (CSR) which is a major indicator of women disempowerment as it reflects both pre-birth discrimination manifested through gender biased sex selection and post birth discrimination against girls in form of their health, nutrition and educational needs.

The participants were educated about the aim and objectives of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Scheme which was launched by the Prime Minister on 22nd January, 2015 to address the issue of decline in CSR and related issues of empowerment of girls and women over a life cycle continuum.

The team DHEW also raised an awareness on different schemes like Pension schemes, Scholarship schemes, Prosthetic Aids, SMAS and Women empowerment schemes such as DHEW, OSC, WHL 181, Shelter Home, Marriage Assistance Scheme, Ladli Beti, PMMVY, Employment generation schemes such as Tajeswani, Mumkin, PMEGP, etc

The team also gave detailed information on how DHEW-Mission Shakti is playing an effective role by providing awareness & training among young female folks to generate self-employment by taking advantage of available schemes at District level.

At the end of the Programme, eleven blankets among girl child were distributed under the BBBP initiative.
