ANANTNAG : The Department of Fisheries Anantnag, led by the District Nodal Officer Anantnag PMFME (ODOP) scheme, on saturday organized one-day awareness cum registration workshop on setting up Micro Food Processing Enterprises (MFPE) under the centrally sponsored scheme ‘PM-Formalization of Micro food Processing Entrepreneur (PMFME) scheme at Municipal Committee Hall Achabal.
The workshop witnessed the participation of the Lead Bank Manager, representatives from various line departments viz. Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep, DIC, and the Bank Manager of Achabal. A huge gathering of shopkeepers and locals from the Block Achabal area also attended the program.
During the programme, the District Nodal Officer PMFME (ODOP) scheme provided an overview of the Micro Food Processing sector’s current scenario and prospects in the Union Territory. He encouraged youth to establish their individual MFPE and take advantage of the credit-linked subsidy available under the scheme. The participants were urged to register on the spot or visit the PMFME Home Page for the application submission process.
The Lead Bank Manager during his address emphasized the importance of setting up Employment Generating Units under the scheme and encouraged the youth to focus on value addition.
Resource persons from various line departments discussed the schemes offered by their departments that can be integrated into the PMFME Scheme. Representatives from various banks in Block Achabal informed the participants about the available financial assistance.
The DNO urged the interested youth to contact the District Resource Person for assistance in the application submission process, support in DPR preparation, and obtaining a bank loan. The officers present at the workshop emphasized the potential in Fish Processing, Bakery products, Canning of any food product, pickle making, vegetable and fruit processing, and assured support to start ventures in the food processing sector.
Stalls for on-spot registration were set up at the camp to facilitate immediate participation.
