BARAMULLA : In line with the national goal of eliminating tuberculosis (TB) by 2025, the NTEP Team Uri, under the guidance of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Baramulla and with the support of Block Medical Officer (BMO) Uri, organized a Nikshay Shivir in the border villages of Balkote, Hathlanga, and Mothal in Uri.
The camp witnessed encouraging response from the local population, providing free TB screening, diagnosis, and treatment to residents in these remote areas. A skilled team of doctors, nurses, and paramedics was deployed to deliver comprehensive medical services.
During the camp, 204 individuals were screened for TB. Out of these, 54 were tested using NAAT, 130 underwent X-ray examinations, and 18 were tested with Cy-TB. The initiative aimed to ensure early detection and timely treatment of TB cases in these underserved communities.
Speaking on the occasion, a retired teacher, expressed his gratitude to the district health administration for reaching out to these far-flung areas with much-needed healthcare services. He commended the efforts of the NTEP team for their commitment to public health.
While interacting with media, Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad, Nodal Officer for NTEP, assured that similar camps will be organized in every panchayat of Block Uri. He emphasized the importance of these camps in bridging the gap between rural communities and quality healthcare.
