COVID resurgence: Active positive cases cross 5800 mark in north Kashmir.

Virus claimed four lives in Bla, B’pora, Kupwara in past 14 days’

Srinagar, Jan 20 : Over 5800 people across northern districts of Kashmir have got infected due to Covid-19 while as the virus has claimed four lives as well in the last 14 days, official figures reveal.

The northern districts including Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora reported a total of 5808 cases in the last 14 days, of which 3980 were detected in Baramulla while as 992 and 836 were recorded in Kupwara and Bandipora respectively.

The official figures available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), revealed that a total of 662 patients have recovered during the same period while four people, who had tested ;positive for the virus, have lost their lives between January 6 to 19.

The surge in Covid-19 cases comes at a time when the Valley has reported more than 22 cases of the new Covid variant, Omicron.

Baramulla district reported a total of 3980 cases in the last 14 days while 256 patients recovered. The district reported one death as well, the figures reveal.

According to the figures, Kupwara reported 992 positive cases with 292 recoveries and three deaths as well.

Bandipora reported a total of 836 positive cases with a total of 114 recoveries.

As per the figures, the trio districts as of January 19 have a total of 5,361 active positive cases—(KNO)
