Lalpora : Police on Thursday organised a day long ‘Thana Diwas’ programme at Sogam Lolab in Kupwara. The meeting was presided over by ASP Kupwara Farhat Geelani.
Large number of respectable citizens and traders of the area participated in the meeting and raised several issues pertaining to civil administration, drug addiction and other civic amenities.
Various issues pertaining to police were resolved on spot and the issues related to other departments were noted and assured that the issues will be forwarded to concerned authorities.
 The participants were also requested to cooperate with Police and administration in maintaining law and order in the area and in identifying anti-social elements.
People appreciated the role of police in eradicating drug menace from the area.
Addressing the occasion, ASP Kupwara Farhat Geelani said that “the grievances will be taken up with the district administration for immediate redressal”, adding, “police will provide its legal support when required for the betterment of the society.”
He reiterated that such meetings provide an opportunity to properly channelize the suggestion of people and seek their support for better policing.
He also said that such meetings would be organised in future as well.
Large number of people including DDC Sogam Nasir Nazir Lone, BDC Sogam Nageena Mushtaq, BDC Advisor Mushtaq Ahmad Lohar, DySp Lolab Sarfraz Bashir, SHO Lalpora Malik Naseer, SHO Sogam Mudasir Ahmad, SHO Kuligam Mohammad Azhar, JK Apni Party Senior leader Abdul Raheem Wani, Inspector 162 Bn, PRIs, Members’ from Auqaf Committee of all local mosques, members from civil society, traders and others also attended the Thana Divas.
