DC Bandipora convenes meeting on installation of smart meters

BANDIPORA : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Thursday chaired a meeting regarding the installation of smart meters in district Bandipora.

The officials of KPDCL informed the meeting that the installation of smart meters has been rolled out in the district, besides a detailed presentation was given on the status of Smart Metering Projects in Bandipora under phased manner.

The meeting discussed implementation status, feeders identified for smart metering in Bandipora, feeder wise meter installation, Field Activity Progress, funding and road map for the projects.

On the occasion, DC directed the concerned and police to tackle resistance by any person in the process of installation of smart meters amicably. He also said that if any person creates hindrances and damages public property, then strict action shall be taken against him.

He also directed concerned officers to create awareness among the people regarding the utility and advantages of smart metering in ensuring a constant supply of electricity.

The DC further directed to involve opinion leaders, religious leaders, Mohallah Committees, Traders Federations and social activists to motivate people regarding installation of Smart meters.

He said the message should be loud and clear regarding execution of work besides social media and other channels should be utilized to familiarize and sensitize general people about the advantages of smart meters.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Ali Afsar Khan; ADC Umar Shafi; Executive Engineer, KPDCL Bandipora/Sumbal; DySP DAR and other concerned officers and representatives of Vendor Agency.

Meanwhile, ACR Bandipora, SDM Sumbal, Tehsildar Sumbal/ Hajin, and EO MC Hajin joined the meeting through virtual mode.
