DC Bandipora reviews arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram at Sumbal

BANDIPORA : In view of the upcoming observance of Muharram-ul-Haram 2025, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri today convened a high-level coordination meeting at Dak Bungalow, Sumbal to finalize arrangements for the peaceful and smooth conduct of religious events across the district.
During the meeting, DC emphasized inter-departmental coordination, timely execution of facilities, and maintaining law and order during the Muharram days. He directed all concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply, proper sanitation, healthcare services, and traffic regulation at all major congregation sites.
On the occasion, DC directed concerned officers from departments including PDD, Jal Shakti, R&B, Health, Fire & Emergency Services, Food Civil Supplies, Police and Municipal Committees to stay alert and ensure all necessary arrangements are in place well in advance.
He underscored the importance of maintaining peace and communal harmony during the Muharram period, stressing the need for seamless coordination among the district administration, police authorities, and religious bodies to ensure the smooth and dignified conduct of all related processions and events.
On the occasion, religious leaders and community representatives raised several concerns related to healthcare, electricity, drinking water and other essential arrangements for Muharram congregations.
While giving a patient hearing to the issues highlighted, DC assured that all genuine demands would be addressed on priority. He directed the concerned departments to take immediate action for timely resolution of the issues.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zaffar Hussain Shawl; Programme Officer ICDS, Yaar Ali Khan; SDM Sumbal, Chief Planning Officer Bandipora and other concerned officers.
