GANDERBAL : In view of the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)–2025, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, today conducted an extensive visit to Baltal Base Camp and Manigam Transit Camp to take stock of the ongoing arrangements being put in place for the smooth conduct of the Yatra.
During the visit to Baltal, the DC inspected key infrastructure including accommodation facilities, sanitation, essential services, and overall preparedness for the arrival of pilgrims. He emphasized the importance of ensuring all basic amenities are fully functional well before the commencement of the Yatra.
The DC visited the Joint Police Control Room (JPCR) at Baltal and reviewed its functioning, deployment of staff, and coordination mechanism. He directed all concerned departments to ensure seamless communication and timely sharing of information for effective coordination.
While supervising the pitching of tents within the base camp, the DC urged tent owners to ensure good quality tents equipped with proper bedding and necessary facilities for the pilgrim’s comfortable stay. He also instructed Fire and Emergency Services and SDM Kangan to maintain adequate spacing between tents and to ensure the availability of fire extinguishers at each tent to mitigate any fire-related risk.
Interacting with local shopkeepers at Baltal, the DC urged them to maintain cleanliness in and around their establishments and strictly follow safety protocols while setting up their shops.
Later, the DC visited the Manigam Transit Camp and reviewed the preparedness of the camp. He directed the Nodal Officer, Transit Camp to ensure that all necessary utilities such as tents, shops, toilets, and other essential services are set up well in time so that pilgrims do not face any inconvenience during their halt at the transit point.
The DC reiterated the commitment of the District Administration to provide a safe, hygienic, and well-organized environment for the Yatris during SANJY-2025 and called upon all stakeholders to work in close coordination for the successful conduct of the Yatra.
