DC Kupwara attends closing ceremony of 3-Day Skill Development training Programme for Silk farmers

Kupwara : The Deputy Commissioner(DC) Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan today attended the closing ceremony of the 3-day Skill Development training programme under Silk SAMAGRA capacity building for farmers of sericulture at Sericulture Development Department Kupwara.

Development officer Extension & trainings Sericulture , Mohd Abdulla Bhat was present on the occasion.

45 farmers (cocon growers) across the district participated in the training programme which commenced from 18.7.2024 to 20.7.2024.

DC,while interacting with progressive farmers congratulated them for successful conclusion of the training programme.She said that the sector has the potential to increase income generation, particularly for unemployed youth and small farmers.

Development officer Extension & trainings Sericulture, highlighted the necessity of skill upgradation for silkworm rearers to ensure they adopt scientific rearing techniques. “The department is committed to organising regular capacity-building programmes for silkworm rearers and youth ,” he said adding that the initiative aims to increase awareness about the latest sericulture techniques practised through mass awareness programmes, exposure visits, and other capacity-building activities.

The Deputy Commissioner distributed skill development training course certificates among the trainee farmers.
