DC Kupwara Chairs DLC meeting of Fisheries Department.

KUPWARA : The Department of Fisheries, District Kupwara today organized a District level Committee (DLC) meeting which was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan (IAS).

The committee members of the Holistic Agriculture Development Plan (HADP) and Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojna (PMMSY) were present in the meeting.

Assistant Director, Fisheries, Department Kupwara, briefed the Chair that a total of 26 eligible candidates were shortlisted for selection of 16 beneficiaries under HADP and PMMSY schemes for establishment of 12 Trout units, 3 Carp Units and 1 registered fisherman for providing assistance for purchase of Motorcycle with ice box for the year 2023-24 on the basis of eligibility criteria.

To select the 16 Candidates out of total 26 shortlisted candidates for establishment of fisheries units and other infrastructure, draw of lots were held in presence of DLC Members and candidates.

As many as 16 candidates were selected through a draw of lots out of total 26 shortlisted candidates (Fishermen) from various areas of the district for establishment of units under HADP and PMMSY schemes for the year 2023-24.

These Fisheries units are being established with a cumulative cost of Rs. 71.55 Lacs.

The establishment of these units will not provide employment opportunities but also increase fish production to meet up the demand of fish.

Meeting was attended by Superintendent Engineer, Jal Shakti Department, Chief Agriculture officer Kupwara, District head of KVK, Deputy Registrar Cooperative Department Kupwara, Assistant Director Fisheries, District Lead Bank Manager, District Manager NABARD, Chief Animal Husbandry officer, Horticulture Planning & Marketing officer, Chief Horticulture officer Kupwara, District Sheep Husbandry officer Kupwara besides progressive farmers and beneficiaries also participated in the meeting.
