DC Kupwara chairs DLSWC meeting, reviews various mining issues

KUPWARA : Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan who is chairman, District Level Single Window Committee (DLSWC) Saturday convened a meeting of concerned officers to discuss various issues pertaining to mining.

The meeting held threadbare discussion regarding various mining related issues. These include identification of feasible sand, silt and clay patches to be identified for manual extraction by local traditional Hanjis, Khanis and Muleteers. Permission for allowing the left over material with online vendor-ships of customary miners in Nallah Mawar, besides, Illegal extraction in adjoining areas of Nallah Mawar & other Nallahs of district and title verification of land used for such activities along with ownership details for imposition of penalties were also discussed.
It was given out that demarcation of the e-auctioned mineral blocks be done in advance with active support of Revenue authorities. It was also given out that public complaints with regard to mineral extraction from the e-auctioned blocks to be redressed at an earliest.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner directed the officers to remain vigilant and adopt a proactive approach in identifying any illegal activities related to mineral extraction. She urged the officers to take immediate action against violators and ensure that appropriate legal and punitive measures are implemented.
The officers were instructed to conduct regular inspections, set up surveillance mechanisms, and collaborate with law enforcement agencies to prevent illegal mining operations.
The chair also reviewed the status of NOCs under Single Window Clearance of Minor Mineral Blocks.
ADC Kupwara, Mohd Rouf Rehman, ACR, DFOs, CAO, CHO, DMO and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
