KUPWARA : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan Thursday, chaired the proceedings of Mega Block Diwas at Sports stadium, Haqaniabad, Punzwa (Block Ramhal) to take stock of progress of development activities, ensure good governance at the door steps of the people and assess the grievances faced by the general public of Ramhal Block.

SSP Handwara, Dawood Ayoob, ADC Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir, DDC Member Ramhal, Adv.Ulfat, Chairperson BDC Ramhal, Mohammad Yaseen Sheikh, BDC Trehgam Mohammad Abdulla Mir, District and Officers of all line departments, PRIs and Public of Ramhal attended the Block Diwas.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the purpose of holding Block Diwas is to reach out to the people at their doorsteps to listen to their grievances and assess their developmental needs.

DC said that development is a continuous process and demands never end as Kupwara district is an aspirational district. It is better to prioritize the demands. Given the limited resources, we will make every effort to redress the genuine issues and grievances, she added.

Ayushi assured that left out areas will be covered under JJM and provided clean drinking water.

The DC urged the locals to avail the benefits of flagship HADP scheme. She directed the Agriculture Department to organize an awareness camp under HADP in the area.

On the occasion, DC while congratulating the people said that Kupwara district is topping in walnut production in the UT and is on the second position in Milk production.

Chairperson BDC Ramhal congratulated district administration for constructing a beautiful sports stadium at Haqaniabad Galizoo which is an example of transformation and development.

On the occasion PRIs and locals congratulated the District Administration for its best efforts in overall development of the area and apprised the DC about some important issues faced by the people of the area which included upgradation of PHC Vilgam, introduction of Science stream for Govt. Degree College Vilgam, shifting of GDC Vilgam from BDO Office to new building, completion of playgrounds at Panzwa, Gund Moemen and coverage of Bhat Mohalla and new colony Vilgam under JJM.

Earlier, ADC Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir presented a developmental overview of Block Ramhal.

The DC later watched the final match as chief guest, which was being played between Gulgam and Trehgam at the sports stadium, Haqaniabad Punzwa. She congratulated the sports department for organizing the winter t20 cricket Championship.

She appreciated players for enthusiastically participating in the tournament and spectators for turning up in huge numbers.

During the tournament more than 150 teams at four different sports venues including Sports stadium Panditpora Langate, Galizoo sports stadium, Playground Chamkote (Karnah) and sports stadium Punzwa participated where thousands of spectators turned up despite severe cold conditions and enjoyed the cricket matches.
