DC Kupwara chairs NCORD meeting

KUPWARA : A meeting of District Level Committee of Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) was held Thursday under the Chairpersonship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan.

Addressing the meeting, the DC said that there will be no tolerance towards drugs and impressed upon all the officers to work in coordination and added dedication towards eliminating the drug menace from the district.

The DC took appraisal of the action taken by the concerned line departments with regard to measures to overcome the Drug menace in the district.

The meeting held a threadbare discussion on the incidences of drug addiction, action taken report of previous NCORD meeting, Drug free Panchayats in district Kupwara, Awareness programmes, installation of CCTVs in all Medical /Pharmacy Shops, status of the Drug De-addiction centers of the district, hotspots of the drug abuse, social boycott with Drug peddlers, measures taken against illicit crop cultivation and geo-tagged details of land under cultivation.

On the occasion, the DC directed the concerned officers to utilize the services of Secretary Panchayats, ASHAs, AWWs and Lumberdars to mobilize the drug addicts for attending counseling centers for their proper rehabilitation.

The CMO Kupwara informed the chair that 433 drug addict patients have been seen in the district and 654 counseling sessions of Drug De-addiction have been conducted till date. Medical camps with special focus on Drug De-addiction were conducted at GMS Wadder Bala, Rest House Pathwari Nowgam, and GMS Phulmarg.  Besides, 7 Tele- MANAS and Drug De- Addiction awareness programmes have been conducted at Kralgund, Langate, Chowgal, Handwara and Kupwara.

The DC directed the CMO to prepare the list of Medical shops within 7 days who have not installed CCTV cameras so that action under rules is taken against such defaulters.

She further directed Officers of line departments to become more visible and share photographs of day to day activities related to Drug De-addiction measures.

The NCORD meeting was attended by SSP Kupwara, Yougal Manhas; CMO Kupwara, CEO, Assistant Commissioner Panchayats, Tehsildars and other concerned officers.
