During a public hearing held yesterday, concerns were raised regarding the damages suffered by several crucial bridges in the district. In light of these concerns, the District Development Commissioner has directed the authorities to initiate temporary restoration works without delay. The prompt response from the administration showcases their commitment to ensuring the well-being and convenience of the public.

To expedite the restoration process, the concerned authorities have called upon the responsible agencies, specifically the R&B Divisions in Kupwara and Handwara, to submit estimates for the temporary restoration of the damaged bridges. The estimates are required to be furnished within two days to facilitate further appropriate action.

The bridges in need of temporary restoration include Shuloora Bridge, Badibera Bridge, Old Khumriyal Steel Girder Bridge, Mailk Masjid Bridge in Kralpora, Dad Kadal Bridge in Langate, Tumina Bridge, Nowgam Bridge, and Galgazna Bridge. These bridges are vital for maintaining smooth connectivity within the district.

The restoration cost is expected to be covered under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), ensuring that the required resources are allocated promptly. The responsibility for temporary restoration has been entrusted to the competent agency, the R&B Division in Kupwara, and the R&B Division in Handwara.(KNS)
